A lot of offices are still using fluorescent lights – they were easy to install in suspended ceilings & can light large areas. However, one of the main issues with fluorescent tubes is the quality of light can be inconsistent; bulbs are prone to flickering & they become dimmer with age. This, combined with problems such as buzzing, means they are far from the ideal choice for a modern office.

The cost element is due to the inefficiency of the bulbs. In simple terms, they use far more electricity to produce light than LEDs. With a far shorter shelf-life, they need to be replaced more frequently, which results in much higher maintenance costs.
