Project: Lighting Upgrade
Client: Gartcosh Parish Church
Date: May 2023
Location: Glasgow
Project Detail
We really enjoyed working on this interesting lighting project for Gartcosh Parish Church in Glasgow. Feedback from the church members was that the lighting was too dark. The aim of the lighting upgrade was to rectify this, but also had to tick some other boxes:
- The solution needed to be energy-efficient (to keep running costs down)
- Original chandeliers fittings needed to be retained, to keep the original “feel” of the church
- All lights needed to be on different switches, which enables different atmospheres to be created.
The solution was to install 150W High Bay LED lights in the apex of the roof. While the chandeliers look great & appear to be lighting the church, the majority of the light is actually coming from the highest point in the ceiling. This has made a massive improvement – better lighting for church visitors, fewer shadows at floor level & increased visibility of the detail on the roof.
