This project was carried out for a domestic customer in Glasgow after they experienced repeated loss of power and lighting to parts of the home due to the RCD tripping.

After ruling out a faulty appliance, we carried out systematic fault-finding across the installation and narrowed the issue down to the upstairs sockets circuit.

Our work included:

• Investigating repeated RCD trips and intermittent power loss
• Isolating the fault to the upstairs socket circuit
• Confirming damage to a cable caused by a plasterboard screw during bathroom works (naughty plumber)
• Making the circuit safe by joining the damaged cable within a suitable enclosure
• Restoring power and confirming the installation was operating correctly

The repair resolved the fault and ensured the circuit was safe for continued use, allowing the customer and other trades on site to continue work without further disruption.
