This EICR remedial work was recently carried out for a GP practice in Glasgow’s West End after a couple of electrical safety issues were identified.

One of the faults involved a socket that had been switched off but was still showing 112v during testing. This is clearly not safe, as a socket that appears to be isolated can still present a risk to anyone using, inspecting or working on that circuit. The issue was traced back to a disconnected earth in the consumer unit, which meant the circuit did not have the protective earth connection it should have.

The existing consumer unit also had no cover, so this was replaced as part of the remedial work. Consumer units should be properly enclosed to protect against accidental contact with live parts and to keep the installation safe for staff, contractors and anyone carrying out future maintenance.

As part of the same project, we also installed new spurs for a new fire alarm system, giving the system the dedicated electrical supply points required.

This project is a good example of the practical commercial electrical work we carry out for GP practices, offices, workplaces and commercial premises across Glasgow and Central Scotland.
