Project: Interlinked Smoke Alarms
Date: January 2022
Location: Semi Detached Home, Jordanhill

Project Detail
From February 2022, all homes in Scotland need to have an interlinked smoke alarm system & adequate Carbon Monoxide protection. Please visit our page on interlinked smoke alarms for more information on the new laws.
In this property, we installed the following AICO alarms:
- smoke alarms in the hallway & on the landing
- smoke alarm in the main living area
- heat alarm in the kitchen
- smoke alarm & Carbon Monoxide alarm in the loft, which is where the boiler was located.
There is no legal requirement to have a smoke alarm in a loft (as long as it hasn’t been converted to a living space). However, if your boiler is in your loft (as in this home), it makes sense to install a smoke alarm/heat alarm. Without this, fire could be caused by a fault in your loft without any kind of alarm being triggered.
