LED Security Floodlights
For many reasons, LED floodlights are one of the most popular types of outdoor security lighting installed today.
To begin with, they are highly energy efficient. They generate the same lumen rating at a much lower wattage than traditional incandescent bulbs or halogen security lights. In simple terms, this means brighter light is produced while using less energy.
The initial cost of installing LED security floodlights is generally higher than the cost of metal halide, halogen or son equivalents. However, the bulbs last far longer than most other bulb types and need replacing much less frequently. Secondly, the performance benefits are immediate and savings over the longer term are considerable.

PIR / Motion Sensor Security Lights
PIR / Motion Sensor floodlights work are very popular for commercial & industrial security lighting applications as they provide several important benefits.
Firstly, they are ideal for adding security lighting over loading-bays, windows, doorways, windows & other points of entry.
PIR LED security lights can also be programmed to only be triggered at certain times. This type of security lighting provides two key benefits. To begin with, running costs will be lower than lights designed to be running constantly. Secondly, triggering them can alert any intruders to the fact that their presence has been detected…and is really useful for manned security (i.e. they can see when a light has been triggered).
LED floodlights with motion sensors are ideal for all manner of work yards, entrances & loading areas. As well as alerting intruders, They can also be useful as assistive lighting for genuine visitors, as well as alerting intruders.

Solar Powered Security Lights
Solar-powered security lighting is the most economical and eco-friendly lighting solution. LED floodlights and external wall lights can be run at a lower cost than using either batteries or mains power.
Another benefit is the ease of installation. Unlike mains-powered lighting, there is normally no need to do any wiring (which helps reduce installation costs). It is also much easier to install a solar security light than most mains-powered versions because you won’t typically need to do any wiring. On that point, they are just as flexible as battery security lights. As there is no need to wire them into a standard 240V (UK) power source, so they can be positioned to work more or less anywhere.
A constant source of bright sunshine is no longer required to effectively power solar security lights. The latest versions are far more efficient at converting solar power into usable energy. This means they are now a popular choice for security lighting, even where UV counts are quite low for much of the year (e.g Scotland). Depending on your requirements, we will be able to advise whether or not solar-powered security lights are available option.
Why Upgrade To LED Security Lighting?
If you are currently running metal halide, halogen or son security lighting, there are lots of reasons to consider upgrading to LED lights:
- Compared to halogen & metal halide, LED lights give a much brighter light that allows for colour recognition.
- Upgrading to LEDs will provide an equivalent or brighter light for less than 50% of the energy consumption (i.e. brighter lights for less cost).
- Lower maintenance costs, due to the increased life of LED bulbs.
Please get in touch to arrange a free survey & discuss the savings that could be made by upgrading to LEDs.
